Today is the first day of my 22nd week and boy, oh boy... is this guy a kicker! He used to only move after meals but now I'm feeling action sporadically throughout the day. This morning I was "spooning" Chad in bed when Baby Iken started kicking like an Olympic swimmer. Chad felt the kicks through his butt so we've been joking all day that he kicked daddy's ass! Seems as if Baby Iken decided daddy had slept enough and it was time to get up!
On our way home from SF we stopped at my mom's to show off my big belly and open Baby Iken's first gift from Grandma and Grandpa. They got him a cute blue/white reversible outfit from Baby Gap and two Carters outfits that say "little monkey" and "daddy's little helper." We are trying to figure out what Baby Iken will call her, whether it be Grandma, Grammie or Baka (croatian for grandma).
Our next stop was at Ang's where Natalie gave Baby Iken two of her favorite things - a super soft baby blue blankie (Natalie has it in green and doesn't leave home without it!!!) and a pair of monkey Robeez (flexible shoes for growing babies). Then we pulled out Angela's doppler to hear Baby Iken and Tiny's heartbeats. We found both of them right away although Baby Iken was moving quite a bit and kicking Angela's hand as she held the instument. Baby Iken's heartbeat was a bit slower than Tiny's, making all of us think that Angela is having another girl, or "Curly Head" as Patrick called it.
Baby Iken is kicking me now as I type this email. Hope he goes to sleep soon so Mommy can get some rest.
